Papercat - 'Dolls of the World'
This product is made in Israel. Price includes Sales Tax & Shipping.
This booklet celebrates folklore all around the world!
The Booklet contains 3 enchanting dolls: • Anika - the Dutch doll • Zahra - the African doll • Reiko - the Japanese doll Inspiration for the 'Dolls of the World' Booklet
Inspiration for the dolls came from the folklore dolls our grandmothers used to collect and display (in their original plastic boxes) on the piano or on a high shelf which no one could reach. Hadar remembers she always wanted to play with them but was not allowed. Each doll is specifically designed according to the traditional customs of the country she represents.
Once constructed, the dolls can be played with or placed on shelves as decoration. The booklet also contains some sweet anecdotes about the traditions of the country represented.
What is 'Happy Paper Toys'? “Happy Paper Toys” are self-assembly toys. They come in the form of colorful designed booklets. Inside each booklet are paper toys in 2-dimensional layouts, which can easily be popped out of the page (no need for scissors!). Each toy has fun comics-style instructions; you only need to have is clear fast-drying glue, a string (for the transportation series only) and patience on hand!
The booklets are intended for various ages:
- Ages 4-10 can construct with the help of a parent
- Ages 10 and up can enjoy the challenge of assembling by themselves. The time spent constructing is magical: watching the two-dimensional sheet of paper being transformed, bit by bit, into a fun toy each time you fold it, leaves you with a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction.
About PaperCat, Eitan Shiloh and Hadar Kimchy
The idea behind ‘PaperCat’ started when Eitan and Hadar felt the need to combine their design fields (illustration and graphic design & industrial design) and create something together. With the birth of their children, Eitan and Hadar felt nostalgic about their childhood toys, which were naive and colorful, mostly made of wood, paper or metal.
The material most often used in PaperCat products is paper, since it is a very diverse material. It is accessible and known, it can be illustrated and printed on, it can bend and be folded, and by folding it, it can change from a 2-dimentional to a 3-dimenational product. And of course, it can be recycled which makes it ecological.
PaperCat aspires to create products that bring back patience, working with hands, concentrating and deferred gratification and to create beautiful aesthetic products that also challenge kids to think, as well as to use their motor skills and logic.
